Our Guests: Gorge View Bush Retreat is the ultimate destination for guests seeking a unique experience in the Northern Territory. Offering guests the opportunity to experience the fresh air and outback experience of camping, without the hassle of setting up camp, we offer a range of accommodation to suit your camping and glamping desires - to make your stay in Katherine a truly wonderful and memorable experience. Our sunset viewing deck is the perfect location to wind down after a day of exploring the Katherine region, including the Aboriginal cultural experience at Top Didj Cultural Experience, or the wonderful Aboriginal cultural tours at Nitmiluk, the hosts at Gorge View understand your expectations on experiencing comfort and service during your stay.

For those people who like to start their day before the sunrises, yoga sessions are available either at the Gorge View Bush Retreat deck, or in Nitmiluk National Park. We believe in catching the magic of the beginning of the day, and enjoy listening to the blue wing kookaburra’s heralding the setting of the sun and the rising of the stars.

Our offerings provide for the adventurous at heart, and allow guests to enjoy the expansive outback sky, the fresh air of the outback, and the comfort of a deluxe bed.

We have 3 on-site fully-equipped camp kitchens, and guests are able to pre-order pizzas (please order before arrival) on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Mobility Assistance / Accessibility: The sunset viewing deck is a 5 minute walk uphill from the main campground. Gorge View Bush Retreat has inclusive values, and we’re working to improve site accessibility for people with mobility issues. We are happy to provide assistance to those with mobility issues (including injury) by 4WD to the sunset deck.

As well as amazing camping and glamping facilities, we provide accommodation for individiuals and groups to participate in retreats including yoga retreats, writing retreats, artisits retreats and wellness retreats. Sometimes when we take time to connect with each other, we reignite our zest for life, and reconnect with our inner story - the story that we want to echo through time. Glamping Canvas Bell Tents: 5 available. Includes Queen Bed, outdoor setting, air conditioning!! Extra single beds available (additional charge). Shared bathroom facilities - so bring a torch for your night time trip to the loo. Approximately 50m walk to the toilet/shower block. Approximately 400m walk to the sunset viewing deck. Given the heat of the Northern Territory, we don’t recommend spending time in the Glamping Tents during the day. The Glamping tents are ideal to enjoy from dusk until early morning, but as the sun heats up, so do the tents, so we recommend spending time chasing waterfalls, enjoying the local art galleries, caneoing the Katherine River, or doing some of the great hikes, and coming back to a comfortable bed at the end of the day.

Safari Tents: 24 safari tents available accommodating each with 2 beds! Comfortable, practical, breezy, with fan and light. Bring a torch for night time trip to the bathroom. Approximately 50m walk to the toilet/shower block. Great discount for group bookings - book out 12 tents at a time for massive savings. Perfect for group bookings, and for those looking for a camping experience to enjoy the best of the the Top End weather, without having the hassle of setting up a tent. Let us do the work for you!

Unpowered camping: If you prefer to bring your own tent, we can show you some spots to set up. Given the nature of the escarpment bush, the sites can be hot in the day, and we recommend basing your days around swimming at the Katherine Hot Springs, the Southern Rock Hole, the Northern Rock Hole, or fabulous new 12 meter in-ground pool. Due to the small nature of our business, we ask that you arrive for check in between 4-6pm - in time for sunset up on the deck. There is no better spot to watch the sunset from in Katherine.

Toilet and shower block: Our toilet and shower block includes 4 showers and 4 flushing toilets.

Camp Kitchens: We have 3 camp kitchens, set up with gas cooking, a communal fridge, and cooking equipment, including cutlery and crockery.

Sunset viewing deck: 400m from the campsite, a 3 minute walk uphill will find you at the sunset viewing deck. A great place to sit and watch the sun go down and enjoy a couple of cold beverages. We’ll throw in the magic for free.

Meal Service: Don’t want to cook for yourself? Order a pizza from our kitchen.

Policies:

• Firewood is to be collected off site. Please bring your firewood to Gorge View Bush Retreat. You can’t collect it here.

• Fires and flames are not to be bigger than 60cm. No bonfires. No big fires. Keep them small and in the designated fire pits.

• No music after 9pm.

• Be respectful of your neighbours. Go to bed. Be quiet. If you’re going to stay up late, go away from your neighbours.

• Turn the lights off at night

• Don’t drive in such a manner that causes dust. SLOW DOWN.

• Your pet might be your best friend. It might not be ours. Pets and their owners can be evicted at any time without warning.

• Disrespectful behaviour is not tolerated. We love people. We don’t like bad behaviour, and we don’t have to put up with it. Take your bad behaviour somewhere else. We’ll let you know if we don’t like your behaviour, and where you can take it.
